If this wine were a hat (which it's not), it would be a Chiquita Hat (a Brazilian Fruit Hat). Not to be confused with a Pinot ‘gris’ style wine, this is very clearly a Pinot ‘grigio’ style. Why? Because the fruit was deliberately picked at the lower end of its acceptable range to retain the quintessential crisp, light, fine qualities of both the variety and the region. It's very light and breezy. Orange blossom, pear, bananas. Like a fresh but tropical taste of Spring.

 

Every family has a black sheep. Hugh Hamilton wines happen to have more than one. Hugh's McLaren Vale wine family dynasty stretches back 180 years, when Hugh's great-great grandfather planted Australia's first grapes (thank goodness). Now Hugh is master of a most reprobate range of varieties from the classics to the more eclectic. When it comes to tasting these wines, you can expect to enjoy the difference.

Few varieties capture both lightness of touch and depth of flavour as well as Pinot Grigio. These are grapes that can express themselves feather-light and pale as crystal, or full bodied and steel tinged. We aim at the former, light, brilliant, and fresh. Ideal for days of perfect blue skies..

FOOD MATCH

This one's a whole heap crisper and drier than your average Gris. There’s a reason for that – it’s all about the food. If it swims, has fins and scales, and goes glub glub you are onto a winner.
