Despite turning heads at award ceremonies and sneaking five star Halliday reviews, Mike Press is still as hands-on as it gets. As the owners and makers of their single vineyard wine, each and every case sold gets packaged up in the family kitchen.

This elegant lil number is a perfect example of how hard graft and decades of expertise pays off. In 2017, a downpour of rain in late January did wonders for this single estate pinot. To hold tight to maximum juicy flavour, the grapes were pressed in full bunches with mouthwatering results.

Expect an explosion of soft, dark fruits with an injection of fresh violet and earthy spice to finish.  It knocked James Halliday’s socks off too: ‘Has retained its primary crimson hue to an impressive degree; red and black cherry fruit are the flavour drivers...Is there nothing Mike Press can’t do?

Good question. Very good question indeed.

"The wine holds lovely red and black cherry complemented with earthy tones. The nose shows a fresh violet lift with a spicy complexity on the finish. Soft length on the palate in balance with fine tannins to give it definition and structure. Matured in American Oak for 12 months."

Duck’s gotta be your go-to here. Although, curve ball, try it with cherries too. Ridiculously good.
