A ripper Sang here. Now listen up, this red wine was made for food, so get the message out, get the food in, come armed with your best anecdotes and it’s a good time all but guaranteed. Sweet red cherries, a hint of pomegranate, a twist of thyme and some chewy tannins should give your tongue quite enough to mull over.

Euro-inspired, Aussie rooted in Nagambie, Victoria. If you’ve had your coffee today, you might know tar and roses are signature characteristics of nebbiolo. Winemakers Narelle King and Don Lewis embodied this same sense of harmony in creating Spanish and Italian varietals with an inventive Aussie twist. Don’s legacy still lives on, with Tar and Roses focusing on the little things and quality fruit to make intense, distinctive and definitively gluggable wines.

"Sangiovese is also a thin-skinned variety like Nebbiolo. It is known for its earthy more than fruity notes, it has attractive mid red colour and can be characterised by high levels of tannin well balanced by acid. It is suited to well drained soils with abundant sunlight both of which the Heathcote vineyard provides. Mouth-filling tannins with sweet red cherry flavours and a hint of spice on the finish. Sweet red cherries on the nose with hints of thyme, fennel and dried bay leaf."

Your best bet here is tomatoes. So anything with a red sauce like pizza or pasta will be face-meltingly delicious. If we may be so bold, we’d suggest an nduja and rosemary pizza for a real *chefs kiss* set up.
