Woweee. New Producers. New Wines. New Winemaker.
We are super excited to be hosting Julian Langworthy from Deep Woods Estate here in Hong Kong. An intimate 'Meet The Maker' dinner down in the bunker at Crown Wine Cellars. 4 courses, 5 exceptional wines... It is going to be a great night. One of the best.
Of all the 'Meet The Maker' dinners that we hosted over the past two years, this is our first Western Australia producer we have had grace us with their presence (and we started from the top in terms of quality!).
Deep Woods Estate
With its state-of-the-art winery and a vast selection of vineyards, Deep Woods Estate is at the frontline of producers leading a new wave in Margaret River. With a talented team that combines traditional and modern winemaking techniques, Deep Woods Estate has arguably become Australia’s best and most consistent producer of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Arguably, Julian Langworthy's social media claim as the King of Cabernet is coming to life. As chief winemaker of the Fogarty Wine Group, Julian has overseen one of the most awarded wine programs in Australia.
James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year 2019, a Jimmy Watson Award winner, Ray Jordan's 2017 Winemaker of the Year and a Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year nominee, Julian is now regarded as one of the most talented winemakers in Australia. His impressive career has included vintages in France and Canada, as well as senior winemaking roles in the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, and Coonawarra. Passionate about producing regionally distinctive wines, Julian joined the Deep Woods team in 2011. Under his leadership, the winemaking team has continued to refine and explore the Deep Woods style, culminating in over 25 trophies and in excess of 70 gold medals awarded across major national and international wine shows.

Happy Valley-ers... this is what you have been waiting for!
Wine Brothers loves small batch, direct sourced Australian wine. Feather & Bone loves fresh produce. Ergo, Wine Brothers and Feather & Bone are excited to introduce the good folk of Happy Valley to Hugh Hamilton over his delicious wines paired with scrumptious cheeses, meats and so much more.
Hugh is the fifth generation of the family that planted the first vineyards in South Australia in 1837, less than one year after European settlement of the colony. The Hamilton family are excited to celebrate 180 years of unbroken winemaking tradition in 2017.
As with all families one is a black sheep and Hugh Hamilton is it. His wines are far from ordinary. Hugh has a clear vision about the way he sees wines and he produces accordingly. He is a firm believer in the wine and food experience. Both are great, especially in the company of good friends and lively conversation.
Join us for dinner with Hugh at our favourite Happy Valley neighbourhood restaurant, Feather & Bone. General Manager Mark Chan and Head Chef Eric Taluy have put together a 5 course menu which will delight the senses. It wouldn't be a Feather & Bone experience without a cheese and wine pairing section and some of Happy Valley's favourite beef.
Come. Enjoy. Eat. Drink. Learn. Experience.View full product details
We are super excited to have Hugh Hamilton back in Hong Kong. He comes loaded with some fantastic new wines and an unmatched enthusiasm to share them with the good people of Hong Kong.
This dinner will be the launch of three new and exciting Black Sheep wines to the Wine Brothers range - Three unique and interesting wines that can only come from such a high-calibre producer with an intent on following his small-batch mentality. These wines are truly special;
Tempranillo 44% Shiraz 42% Nero d'Avola 14% - The thing about Scoundrels is that they’re not to be trusted. We thought we were getting a Tempranillo, but this wine stubbornly refused at every tasting to be turned into one. This Tempranillo wanted partners in crime; Shiraz and Nero d’Avola. A particularly brawny year for our Tempranillo has been tempered and lengthened by the addition of these two varieties. Mid-palate fruit balances assertive tannin in what we suspect will be a very age-worthy ‘Scoundrel’.
'The Agent Provocateur'
“Whilst at the winery I was introduced to Agent Provocateur. She enticed me. I’m one to push boundaries, but never have I done this before. “Who is she?” You ask. Agent Provocateur is a rare blend. She has a very distinct character, a truly unique beauty.”
Cola and Turkish Delight jockey with star anise, raspberry, and rose oil in an estery bouquet that leaps from the glass, provided by the Grenache and Gewürztraminer. The Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier complete a textural profile that lends weight without sweetness. The supple textures of the white varieties form a perfect counterpoint to the grippier tannins of the reds.
'The Three Card Monte'
In a Three Card Monte, as hard as the mark tries to choose a winning card from three, the dealer always wins. We have turned this on its head by using only winning cards, so that the real trick is not which but how well all three go together. A neat trick where everyone is a winner.
A meaty/spicy mix of Christmas cake and charcuterie. A collision of violets, cranberries, baking spices, and mulberry. A clean acid line keeps everything together; complex, crunchy, and deliciously alive in the glass.
No vineyards? No Cellar Doors? No problem!
Starved of some good ol' fashioned wine culture here in Hong Kong? Us too! Wine Brothers is here to help.
In our newest monthly venture, we are opening up Hong Kongers to the Cellar Door experience you might expect in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale or the Margaret River. We don't have vineyards, but we do have a winemaker and 6 of his bloody delicious wines.
First off the ranks is fifth generation Wine Maker Hugh Hamilton from McLaren Vale. Self-professed black sheep of the Hamilton family, his award winning wines will have you coming back for more.
Join us, and Hugh, for an informal, educational journey through 6 of his flock (aka wines) at 208 on Friday, 29 September from 6pm.
Ticket price is redeemable with any purchase.View full product details
As part of our 'Women of Wine' Wine Club, we will be welcoming Rachel Atkins to Hong Kong on the 30th of May.
In the words of Rachel:
"It was a no brainer, women, wine and stories about what we now call our work - life balance. But it took me 45 years to get there.
I love the wine industry. I love Fox Gordon. I even love my husband and kids.
Owning Fox Gordon gives me autonomy, empowerment, creative freedom and challenge after challenge after challenge.
My story started with triggers like;
saying yes to absolutely everything, (I once wrote down how many things I agreed to which was one full A4 page long, including dying my hair a bad shade of blonde;
a fear of judgement (don’t get me started on my mother);
and that feeling of being the mouse on the treadmill, flat out, all day, all night.
Draining mini bars in hotel rooms in Hong Kong and China had made me anxious.
So I started to make some small changes, aligned to my own values and passions, things I could do in small manageable chunks to prevent me from raiding the cellar at home every night."
Hear more of Rachels stories and join us to talk about balance in all aspects of life.
