2018 - The Year of The Dog - The Year of Jim Jim
Hong Kong loves dogs. Wine Brothers loves dogs. Not to mention we are always on the lookout for something a little bit quirky, which is why we here at Wine Brothers couldn't believe our luck when one of our favourite winemakers told us he had dedicated an entire brand to his beloved dog. Jim Jim was Hugh’s faithful Labrador / Kelpie at Hugh Hamilton’s estate in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Every vintage Jim Jim would eat Shiraz grapes only when they were ripe for the picking, so with viticultural skills like that, Hugh decided Jim Jim deserved his own brand. Jim Jim went to the big kennel in the sky in November 2010 but his talent is remembered in his wines. Woof woof!
The 5OS PROJECT Team is fast developing a reputation for pushing the boundaries, challenging convention and tipping the science of winemaking on its rather bloated and dogmatic head. The ‘Black Bunny’ is one rogue rabbit; the unlikely love child of a high quality batch of McLaren Vale Shiraz and the runaway French variety of Gewurtztraminer thriving Down Under.
“Now it’s in bottle and strutting around like a first round draft pick, everyone at McLaren Vale Winemakers is taking credit for the concept and also trying to justify why its tastes so bloody good from a very precarious scientific angle. Whatever or whomever, this is a seriously good glass of wine, everything we're trying to achieve within the 5OS PROJECT is encapsulated in this bottle. Enjoy anytime over the next 10 years”.
