Complexity is key, this is a wine created from creativity, pushing the boundaries to add extra layers of subtlety and nuance...striving for perfection. Aromas of Strawberry, potpourri, borage flower and musk with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg too. Sleek and refined is the game here, and we can tell you... we love it!

Nanny Goat are In the Pursuit of Magic, pursue the impossible and create the perfect batch of wines! Determined to succeed and adapt to the rugged and extreme climates of Central Otago (just like the nimble goats of he region), Nanny Goat strive to produce wines with elegance, concentration and balance, whilst allowing each individual parcel of fruit tell its own story.

FROM THE WINEMAKER

Fruit for our small-scale Basket case Pinot Noir has been carefully selected with 100% whole bunch fermentation in mind from the outset. Hand harvested once the bunch stems remained green but carried a light sweetness when chewed. Upon arrival at the winery the whole bunches were carefully sorted while being transferred by hand into small 500L oak barrel fermenters to remove unwanted shrivel, bird peck or disease to ensure only the most pristine bunches are fermented. Once full, each fermenter was blanketed with CO2 gas and sealed for a 10 – 12 day period of carbonic maceration followed by a gentle foot tread and fermentation to dryness by resident native yeast. Following a philosophy of minimal mechanical intervention, the free run wine was siphoned directly from fermenter to French oak barrels for maturation while the skins were pressed declassified. No finings or filtration were used in the production of this unique small production offering.
