Say heck yes to this atmospheric drop. The fellas at Sorby Adams reckon it evokes memories of Nanna’s homemade pie, but we’d say it’s got a steaming hot Honkers afternoon with the usual suspects for company written all over it too. Beautiful minerality, silky texture. Ready to drink now; get around it.

Cutting his teeth at Yalumba winery for twenty years, former chief winemaker Simon Sorby Adams has decided to go off piste with his own venture. With intricate knowledge of Barossa and Eden Valley vineyards, there’s few who know how to make a ripper small batch bottle like Simon. Our two cents? Two cool-climate vineyards (with some vines first planted in 1932) plus a black book with the best growers in the Barossa sets Sorby Adams up to make some pretty mesmerising stuff, and they don’t disappoint.

"Our “Margaret” Pinot Gris is a refreshing wine displaying distinct varietal characters – nashi pear, baked apple and peach aromas and flavours. Aromas and flavours of fresh cut nashi pear, hints of stone fruit and all mixed with the memory of Nanna’s home made baked apple pie on a Sunday afternoon. Rich texture and full flavoured with typical Eden Valley minerality."

A spread of your finest tapas will do just nicely. Maybe those olives that have been lurking at the back of your fridge for a while.but preferably for a delicious drop like this, you’d turn it on with some grilled shellfish, mature cheese of a coupla spicier dishes.
