The 5OS project, through an array of talented winemakers that call it home, is forging a new path for Australian wine, and creating an ever-brightening spotlight on small batch winemaking and the positive yet disruptive effect it can have. This is the front line of modern winemaking and we love supporting it.
This Cab Sav out of Western Victoria is as small batch as small batch gets. 178 cases from the Wilson vineyard.
FROM THE WINEMAKER
"This is classic MV Cab, the alluvial soils of the McLaren Flat Sub region provide the density of flavour and mocha, warmed fruits and earthy undertones all hallmarks of the site. Matured in our cellars for a couple of years prior to release in mid 2016, its beautiful drinking upon release but will reward those who are patient, or capable, of forgetting its in the rack for a few years more. 'I love making Cabernet Sauvignon….nearly as much as I enjoy drinking it' "
Jess Hardy - Winemaker
Lamb Shanks. Burgers. Blue Cheese (controversial).
JC SCORE 8.5/10
As a big Cab Sav fan, I generally stick to the known Aussie regions (Margs River is certainly a favourite at the moment). This is an exception. No regrets. Love it.
