Deep Woods release seasons get us bloody excited. Year after year Jules and his legendary Margaret River winemaking team present us with some amazing wines. Worth a read, well worth the drink.
Classic flint and toasty oak on the nose, with stone fruits and pure floral shinning through. A rich and full pallet, with a elements of citrus and white nectarine. Pristine acidity with a great concentration and intensity.
These guys just do everything right. An innate understanding of their 80 acres in ‘winemaking nirvana’ Margaret River and a tight focus on small batch quality means they’re strides ahead of the big dogs when it comes to agility and flavour. It’s this clever clog kind of thinking that scoops up all sorts of awards (65 golds to be precise) including James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year 2019 for Julian Langworthy. They’re wines JH described as having balance ‘beyond compare’. Impressive stuff without a doubt.
FROM THE WINEMAKER
The Reserve Chardonnay marks one of the most successful and contemporary wine styles we have to offer. It is structured and powerful yet beguiling and sophisticated. This is my favourite release since the 2017 vintage and it joins a long line of excellent Reserve Chardonnays.
The palate shows restrained power and great balance. Juicy ripe citrus, apricot and grilled almonds linger on the palate. Tight structure and a peppy acidity drives the wine and provides pristine fruit expression alongside a nuttiness from the oak.
