Like the very best company, this Pinot draws you in. Flowing aromas. Red cherry, plum skin and raspberry. Woven together with bay leaf, tea tree, spice and wood smoke. Intriguing, rich and drinkable as anything.

A delivery from Rising makes any day feel like a reason to celebrate. Sat in the aptly named Christmas Hills in the Yarra Valley, their wine is small batch done right. Small parcels of delicious fruit, carefully chosen. We can’t help but admire the quiet way these guys go about each expression, it’s pure passion at play. For winemaker Anthony Fikkers, less is more when it comes to intervention. And after a hop, skip and jump across Italy, France, Germany and the Hunter Valley, 13 years later, he’s ready to share his passion for cool-climate goodness with anyone willing to slurp away.

FROM THE WINEMAKER

"This Pinot Noir is taken from two blocks at Rising Vineyard in the Christmas Hills; the north facing Hill block and the north-east facing 425 block. The parcels harvested were about 30% whole bunch ferment with the remainder destemmed aiming to maximise the amount of whole berries in the ferment. The whole bunch ferments were gradually crushed by hand and finally foot trod to break the grapes open throughout the three week ferment. The destemmed ferments were plunged once a day, no more. The wine was naturally fermented and following pressing went straight into French oak hogsgeads, approximately 40% new. It aged on lees for six months was racked and then back to oak for a further three months before being bottled in early December without filtration or fining."

FOOD MATCHING

This one can handle tricky-to-pair veggies like beetroot and asparagus. In fact, soy-based stir fry dishes are a bloody good idea, or a sweet ‘n’ smoky BBQ. Drool.

I recommend this product

Easy going Pinot with delicate layer !

I am fans of 2020, when they release 2021 i bought a case immediately, same as their tasting notes, it bit more spice and power than 2020, more than that they also provide bit more tannic with good acidity. Its given the wines more vibes. If you are a guy used to be buy bourgogne, this is a good alternative. It just so pure! Love it so much
